My low carb experience

Postby tmkenny71 on Fri Apr 17, 2009 2:55 pm

This is my low carb experience. Hope it may give some encouragment to those needing it.....It can be done!!

About 5 yrs ago I weighed around 255 lbs and gaining more each day. Finally getting tired of continually having to "size up" while shopping for clothes along with health issues I decided it was time to take action. I had tried many diets in the past but to no avail, then I tried the low carb diet and wow....instant change. The weight began to fall off, no more sleepapnea, back pain or heartburn. I had energy like I was a teen again. Within about 8/9 months I had lost almost 100lbs!!! :D

I think the hardest part in the beginning was just saying NO to the chocolate, ice cream, pasta, bread and all the greatly loved foods. However in just a week or two of starting the diet and those being cleansed from my system found that I no longer had those craving. If I did have a craving I found great low-carb recipes to substitute them with.

With a little determination and willpower this great diet does work!

Hi!

I am beginning a low-carb diet--40 to 60 carbs a day. Is it okay to drink whisky or vodka on a low-carb diet? What has been your experience? I have read many posts (from other low-carb sites) from individuals that say whisky and vodka are okay (without the sugar mixers) because all of the carbs are out of these liquors. Does anyone have experience with having lost weight via low-carb dieting and still was able to enjoy a cocktail each evening?

Thanks.

In me personal experience, I stayed away from beer and the mixed drinks I loved so much. When I wanted a drink, I drank liquor (rum) with diet soda and still continued to loss weight. However each persons body may react differently.
