Hi Fay,
I’m new to this site as well, but I’m not new to the Low-Carb Diet. I’ve been doing low carb for 11 years. In 1997 I weighed 235lbs and in 8 months I was 155 lbs. But, I only lost 5 lbs in the 1st 3 months! Then I only lost 5 lbs the next month. So, I lost 70lbs the last 4 months I was on the low carb diet.. That’s 4 lbs a week! Don’t give up the first week or first 3 months you don’t loose weight. Please take my advice. Go have your cholesterol and triglycerides checked before going low/no carb. In 4 weeks have them checked again. If you adhere to a strict low carb/no carb diet for at least 4 weeks I guarantee you that your lipids will be normal (if they are not already).
After that 1st year I have Yo-Yo’d several times. I go up to about 180 and I drop back to 165-170. It cycles every year. Each time I check my lipids and the outcome is the same. If I’m loosing weight my lipids are down. If I’m gaining weight my lipids are high. Those 1st 3 months I did low-carb 11 years ago were brutal! The only motivation I had to stay with it was they fact that my lipids were normal (for the first time in 6 years). It takes your body a long time to change its chemistry. It may take 6 months before the weight starts coming off, but don’t worry it will. If your lipids are down you won the major battle. Maintaining that healthy lipid level will give you some bragging rights no matter what your weight is.
